As of January 10, 2011, Lyn Mizer has been hired on as the new director for United Way. Suzanne Clark has served for the past year and moves on to a job in Newark.
Mizer will be responsible for the day to day operations, achievement of the agancy goals and futhering the mission of the organization, which is to advance the common good, create oportunities for a better life for all and provide building blocks of education, income and health.
"Lyn has a sincere desire to make a positive impact in our community and has illustrated that through her many hours of volunteer work over the past 13 years since she has been a part of our community.," Board Beccy Porteus said, "Her positive attitude, compassionate spirit, and demonstrated leadership skills were important factors in her selection as the new director. Through her work with Hospice, Lyn understands the importance of the human connection and of building relationships. Over the next few week, Lyn will be contacting the 19 partner agencies currenly receiving support from the united way to better understand their strengths and needs,."
Mizer lives in Coshocton with her husbnad Todd and they have two adult children, Elyse, their daughter has graduated college and lives in North Carolina, and their son, Peter is a freshman at the University of Cincinnati. Lyn's previous affiliation with non-profit organizations include Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, Leadership Coshocton, the city schools and Grace United Methodist church.
